

Countryside’s Health ministry
- Blood Pressure Clinic is held from 9:30-11:00 on the second
Sunday of each month in the parish nurse’s office. Opportunities
for weekly checks are available.
- Card Ministry reaches out with cards to members of the
congregation who celebrate 70+ years at their birthday. They
also send cards at significant anniversaries to those who have
experienced loss.
- Caring Helpers assist persons by providing transportation to
medical appointments, grocery shopping, delivering flowers, etc.

- Countryside Caring Ministry includes trained volunteers who
make hospital and nursing home visits. Hospital visitors see
patients at local hospitals daily Monday through Friday. Nursing
home/ homebound visitors make monthly visits as well as other
contacts with cards and phone calls. If you would be interested

- Media Ministry: Volunteers deliver videotapes or DVD’s of the
worship services weekly to those unable to attend worship. If you
would like to receive this service or be a part of this ministry

- Prayer Pager Ministry allows persons with health issues to
carry a pager and members can let them know when they pray
for them. The pager vibrates to alert the person that they have
been prayed for. To obtain a pager, contact Elaine Shutt at 266-
7541. Any member of the congregation can pray for the
individual and call the number listed in with the prayer concerns
in the bulletin or the Chimes.
- Shepherd’s Center of Topeka is a multi-faith organization for
active adults over the age of 55. “Adventures in Learning”
sessions are presented each fall, winter, and spring with four
Fridays each session. A variety of classes are held each Friday.
A one day “Summerize” session is presented in July. Sessions
are held at First Baptist Church at 3033 SW MacVicar.
- S.T.A.R. and B.E.A.M. (Seniors Transcending and Revitalizing &
Body Energy and Mind) is a program of Tai Chi fundamentals
developed especially for individuals of all levels of fitness,
mobility, and special needs. The program through movement
and breath, gently and systematically increases range of motion,
relieves pain, decreases depression, lubricates joints, stimulates
the lymphatic system, increases strength and flexibility, increases
balance and body awareness, and promotes an overall feeling of
well being. Forty-five minute classes, at no charge, meet
Wednesday and Friday at 2:00 PM. Contact Peggy Wheeler,

- Sunday Drivers provide transportation to the 11:00 AM service
on Sunday morning. If you desire a ride, please call the church
by noon on Friday. If you ride each week, notify the church only
if you will not be riding. If you would be interested in joining this

- T.O.P.S. (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly): A close-knit support
group open to men and women who are dealing with weight
issues meets every Friday from 9:00-10:00 AM in Classroom 4.
Weigh-in is from 8:00-8:45 AM.
