We have a lot of fun working together to encourage and support the children and families at Countryside! There are many ways to get involved. Want to help our families and kids but aren’t sure if it’s the right fit for you? Our Children’s Ministry Coordinator would love to sit and chat with you!
If you would like to receive more information or sign up to help in one of these areas, contact Becky Ericson at email@example.com or (785) 266-7541 for more information.
Sunday Morning Opportunities
9:45 Small Groups
Preschool: Work with a partner to share the provided curriculum/lessons with preschool aged children. Lessons are emailed to you two weeks prior to the week you lead (hard copies available if needed) and supplies, including snack, will be ready in the room on Sunday morning. Help every week for one month or sign up to help once or twice a month for a trimester.
Small group shepherds – Our 1st – 3rd grade classrooms participate in a “large group/small group” format of Sunday School. Spirit group shepherds greet children as they arrive and play a provided game. They take the students to Bible Theater and sit with them as the worship team presents the Bible lesson and worship music. After large group time, the classes return to their spirit group rooms for a provided snack, discussion about the Bible story, and games or activities (all of this is provided and set up for you, however you are welcome to bring additional ideas). Shepherds work in pairs to lead their small groups. This is a great opportunity to get to know some awesome kids! Sign up to help once or twice a month for one trimester. Help every week for a month! Grab a friend and serve together!
Tweens: Presently, our tweens meet in their own classroom, using the Connect Curriculum to learn more about the Bible. If you have a heart for 4th-6th graders, contact Becky to learn how you can help in this classroom!
11:00 Small Group Assistant: This would be a great opportunity for a senior high youth or someone who worships at 9:45! This class meets in the Sanctuary at 11:00 and leaves after the children’s moment to participate in crafts and short lessons. Sign up to help once or twice a month.
Sunday Substitutes: Willing to step in once every month or two, or even just once this trimester? We could use subs for all of our classes, including 11:00 Mousepad. If we had 20 people willing to give one Sunday between now and May, we would likely have plenty of subs to fill any needs that arise!!
Children’s Message Presenter: “Children’s Messages” are shared at our 8:30 and 11:00 services. If you are interested in helping, you choose which Sunday(s) you would like to help and we we will send you a reminder that week along with a possible children’s moment. You are welcome to use it or come up with one of your own! Serve once a year, once a quarter, or even once a month! You may also choose to just serve at the 8:30 or 11:00 service. Please note: For the season of Lent, the Pastors and Children’s Ministry Coordinator look forward to spending time with our kids and providing the message.
Wednesdays for Kids: Could you give one or two Wednesdays a month from 6-7:00 to this fun program? Here’s how our evenings currently run: the large group leader guides the group in a Bible lesson, a song or two, and some fun games. Then we head to the Celebration Center for some recreation time, playing games that often loosely tie with our Bible story or the current season. There are lots of ways to help with this fun evening! Engage the kids in Bible stories as a Bible story/large group leader. Plan and lead fun games as a recreation leader! Sit with the kids, get to know them, help encourage them as a hospitality helper! Interested in leading the lessons? We’d love to have your help! We are currently signing up for our fall semester – sign up to help once or twice a month! Commitment is from September 10-November 19.
Office Help: Interested in helping behind the scenes? Talk with our Children’s Ministry Coordinator! We can always use help cleaning out and freshening up busy bags, preparing curriculum and materials for Sunday, and much more!
Vacation Bible School: VBS planning begins as early as January! This really is a fun, team event. Grab a friend or two and serve together! There are many ways to serve – more details will be posted this spring. However, it is not too early to sign up to help! Our Vacation Bible School will run July 6-10 from 9am-noon.
