MORE HELP FOR HAITI……..HOW MANY HEALTH KITS CAN WE PROVIDE?
Our church wants to help out in making requested health kits for Haiti. This is a
tangible way to make an immediate difference since it is estimated that hundreds
of thousands of kits will be needed in the months ahead. For any individual or
group who wants to contribute basic necessities, we will be collecting supplies in
the church Commons area over the next month, then the youth will be putting
together the health kits. These are very similar to what has been done each year
for the Bishop’s Round-up, so many will already be familiar with how this is
done. The following NEW items will be collected to put in the health kits.
1 hand towel (15” x 25” up to 17” x 27”. No kitchen towels.
1 washcloth
1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-size
brushes)
6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
Because the emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the
greatest number of situations and strict rules govern product entry into
international countries, UMCOR requires that the kits contain only the requested
items – nothing more. Thank you for your immediate response in this time of
disaster.
Another way you can help out at this time is to make a donation to
disaster relief through UMCOR. This can be done by giving a check to
Countryside made out to Countryside UMC with the word Haiti in the
memo area or you can donate on line by going to:
